I first learned about the Adventist Church when I met my wife, Ingrid, in 1970. We married in 1971, and that fall at a Heritage Singers concert, I fully accepted Christ as my Savior. Subsequently, I left my position at Bank of America and enrolled as a Senior Theology Major at PUC, having completed four years of college prior.
Graduating from PUC in 1973, I commenced ministry in the Iowa Conference. After four years, we relocated to Oregon, where I was ordained in 1977 and served as a pastor in Coos Bay. Two years later, I was called by the General Conference to pastor the English-speaking church in Hong Kong. Over six years, I fulfilled roles as Pastor, Chaplain, and Director of Health Education. Following this, we moved to Bozeman, Montana, in 1985, where I served as Pastor and Church Ministries Director. Our subsequent move was to Vienna, Virginia, where I initially served as Lead Pastor and later as the Ministerial Director for the Potomac Conference. In 1996, we returned to the West Coast for local church pastoral ministry, initially in Ventura, CA, for three years, and subsequently in Napa, CA, where I served as Lead Pastor for over seventeen years until retiring in 2017.
Post-retirement, I’ve been privileged to serve as Interim Pastor several times. We ministered in Sonoma and Novato for seven months, then with the Hinsdale Church near Chicago, followed by a period in Chico after the tragic Paradise fire and onset of Covid. Our time in Chico extended well over two years until March of last year, when we were invited back to Potomac to lead the Beltsville, MD church with its four campuses until the end of the year. We are currently excited about partnering with Carmichael and assisting this vibrant church family to prepare for new leadership.
My chief goal and mission as an interim pastor are to deepen each member’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to embrace the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that every member can rest assured in salvation through faith in Christ alone, so that together, we may be ready to work with new leadership to reach our world.
